 At
the moment of writing this message I have a sense of pride, satisfaction and achievement
to think that the Institute has completed 25 years of its useful existence. The
Institute has consistently worked towards raising standards of its curricula, adding
new dimensions, new faculty and making the programs more dynamic and relevant. The
striving for excellence permeates all its endeavors.
As a result, IIHMR has been
able to carve out a niche for itself for its work in the health sector.
The spatial growth of the Institute through its new campuses at
Delhi and Bangalore is indicative of its growing rational reach. The Institute is active in Afghanistan
in association with JHSPH. A new foray towards West Asia is being contemplated.
The next two to three years may see our moving to some place in Eastern India as
well.
The Institute's networking with institutional organizations like WHO, JHSPH, UNICEF,
UNFPA, Futures Group, South-East Asia Public Health Network, IbnSina, Plan International,
KfW, NIDI, the Netherlands, SWN, the USA, Clinton Foundation and Partners for Population
and Development and Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan reveals both the quality
and importance of the work done by it. It has been bestowed the status of the Institute of Excellence and the best business school in the health sector.
The faculty, research staff and non-teaching staff have worked hard in delivering
high quality of output and brought fame and glory to the Institute. The leadership
of the late Dr. Rameshwar Sharma, Dr. G. Giridhar, the late Dr.
Maru and Dr. S.D.
Gupta, the present Director has made it possible for the Institute to register all
round growth since its inception. We have been fortunate to have the counsel and
guidance of eminent persons like Shri TN Chaturvedi, Shri B.G. Deshmukh, Shri S.M.
Datta, Dr. YK. Alagh and now of Dr. R.A. Mashelkar as Chairmen of the Governing
Board and other distinguished persons as members of the Governing Board and Management
Board. Special mention must be made of the support of the Tel Group, the Agarwal
brothers and Dr. Tarneja in raising theInstitute and bringing it to the present
state of eminence. Dr. Ashok Agarwal, our Founder Trustee Secretary has worked with
zeal, rare commitment and imagination to translate his vision of the Institute in
reality and deserves our gratitude. The Alumni of the Institute have also added
lustre to the name of the Institute and we thank them profusely for bringing glory
to their Alma Mater. We also
remember with gratitude and thank all our known and
unknown benefactors for helping the Institute in its saga of exciting growth.
I wish the Institute all the best in all its future ventures. .
